AlertMe ******************** The purpose of this program is to alert you of the latest warnings and advisories posted by the National Weather Service on the Internet. The program uses the warnings and advisories that the National Weather Service posts on their IWIN site to alert you. The accuracy and timeliness of the warnings given by AlertMe are dependent on the speed of your Internet connection, and the speed that the National Weather Service is able to post the warnings on the Internet. This program is not intended to be a substitute for local weather reports or weather radio alarms that give you more dependable information. Although this program can not be depended on soley to protect life or property, this program does give you the latest warnings most of the time. In most cases as we tested its efficiency, AlertMe gave us the warnings we chose to monitor in less than a minute in most cases of issuance, on up to 2 minutes delayed at most. -------What does it do?------- AlertMe gives you the latest warnings and advisories that you select. You are able to choose from 15 types of warnings and advisories. You can choose to warn for one on up to all 15 advisories. Once AlertMe finds an active warning or advisory, it displays a visual alarm. A window pops up over whatever you are doing and tells you that there has been a certain warning or advisory issued. At that point you may choose to either ignore the warning by closing the window, or clicking the 'details' button to get the official National Weather Service statement on the situation. At the time of the warning as the program detects it, it will also sound a tornado siren .wav file that you can choose to turn on or off to be alerted by. Besides that, the program will also give you your local forecast and current conidtions, along with radar with the click of a button. -All of your options are saved for future runs of the program. -You also have the option to have the program run in your system tray to keep it out of the way. -------How do I run it?------- To install the program, run the executable file included in this package.
